SolarWinds Supply Chain Hack Continues to Spread: What You Need to Know

The supply-chain hack has hit many organizations all over the world. Cyber threat actors (not mentioning any suspects here) have carried out a sophisticated malware campaign, impacting many organizations all over the world including Governments entities and corporations such as Microsoft, Cisco and Deloitte, according to the State Department, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and security firms.
Austin, Texas-based SolarWinds sells software that lets an organization see what’s happening on its computer networks. Hackers inserted malicious code into an update of that software, which is called Orion. Around 18,000 SolarWinds customers installed the tainted malicious update onto their systems, the company said. The compromised update has had a sweeping impact, the scale of which keeps growing as new information emerges.
